4 Reasons Why You Need a House Inspection
Have you ever been in a situation where something looked better on the outside than on the inside? Maybe it was that lemon of a car you bought in your early 20’s. It turned heads consistently but it turned your bank account red with visits to the garage. Or how about that person that looked date-worthy on the outside only to find out the inside doesn’t match. We’ve all been there! Thankfully most of us learn from these experiences and we happily move on. Imagine if there was a screening process you could use to ensure happiness with all your major life decisions. Doesn’t that sound amazing?! I’m thrilled to announce that we as realtors have figured out at least one process to help foolproof things for our home buyers. It’s called a Home Inspection. I encourage all my clients to get an inspection no matter what. Why? Because I genuinely care about your well-being! Here are the top 4 reasons I give my buyers when they ask “do we really need to pay for an inspection”.
Escape
Buyer’s rejoice! This is your get-out-of-jail-free card. If your inspection proves that your house is a lemon or requires way more work than expected, you’re able to walk away from the sale if previously stated in your offer.
Negotiation
If there are surprises after the inspection you can factor this in and in most cases, you can negotiate the asking price.
Safety
A home inspection is designed to keep you and your loved ones safe. They check for things like mold, electrical issues, and carbon monoxide leaks. These are important things to be aware of and make sure they are up to par.
Peace
There are expensive costs associated with being a homeowner, and they are normally more than you expect (especially for first-time buyers). A home is one of the biggest investments of your life. Having an inspection provides peace of mind before you commit. Every home buyer would agree that paying for peace is well worth the investment.
As you can tell from this blog, I value home inspections. They provide both myself and my clients with a sense of calm knowing their investment is a good one. After several years in the Halifax area as a top realtor, I’ve come to know some incredible Home Inspectors that I highly recommend. Interested in knowing more? Send me an email. I’d love to help you!
