Home Buyers First Steps

We all have our first steps, it’s a normal part of growth. At the beginning of any new process, there will be growing pains, things you never expected, and trip-ups. As an experienced Real Estate Agent, I’ve seen countless of my first-time buyers get into the market. It’s a challenging and rewarding time, and it’s been an honour to be a part of it. This blog is especially for those of you wanting to start your home buying journey! Here are the most critical first steps to be successful when you jump in.

Get To Saving 7%

You may have heard that you need 5% for a down payment, which is true. However, with closing costs factored in, it works out to be more like 7% down. To make sure you stay on budget, it’s essential to have that savings ready.

Get Preapproved

Getting preapproved is an essential first step. Whether through a Mortgage Broker or your bank, make sure you find the best option for you and your family.

Get A (Great) Realtor

Who you have on your side matters! You want to choose a real estate agent who will represent you, speak up for you, and keep you on track, plus a million other critical things. Social media is a great tool to get an inside look into your representation options. Tip: experience is KING.

Get A Lawyer

You will need a lawyer when you get an excepted off on the house, so it’s best to have one ready! Your realtor should also have a recommended list for you to contact.

Get Agile

Be ready to move quickly. The faster you can make decisions and move forward with offers and closing, the better. In a Hot market like HRM, this one is critical!

I want to see my clients thrive in a home perfect for them. If you’d like to learn more or start your home buying journey, please give me a call. I truly believe you and your loved ones deserve the home of your dreams.
